MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men’s soccer picked up a win and three points in a 2-1 road victory at Tulsa Friday night to open American Athletic Conference play for the 2024 campaign. The win is the first for Memphis in its league road opener since 2021.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 3-4-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play, while Tulsa dropped to 1-5-1 and 0-1-0.
The Tigers got both of their goals in the first 10 minutes of action and the defense locked in for the full 90 to get the victory.

KEY MOMENTS
- 6′ – It didn’t take long for the Tigers to find their roar on the road. Just over five minutes into the match, Logan Longo threw a big ball in from the sideline that a Tulsa defender headed back into the box. Lleyton Imparato stepped into the ball off one hop from 15 yards out and blasted a left-footer inside the near post.
- 10′ – The early attack continued for Memphis as Imparato took an outswinging corner kick and laid it perfectly on the six-yard line where Longo leaped and headed the ball under the crossbar to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.
- 26′ – The Golden Hurricane cut in the their deficit when Camilo Vargas ripped a curler around the defense and inside the near post.
- 90 – With Tulsa searching for an equalizer, they had their best look with 26 seconds to play from a header attempt from the middle of the box, but keeper Filip Sabatti skied to he left and got a paw on the ball as it sailed towards the corner to seal the win for Memphis.

- Memphis was credited with seven shot attempts and put six on target.
- Longo led the Tigers with two shot attempts, while five others recorded a single shot.
- Imparato scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season, bringing his total to seven goal contributions (four goals, three assists) in seven matches.
- His three assists are tied for the team high with Longo.
- Longo netted his third goal of the season, which is second most on the squad, and ties his career single-season record that he set in 2023.
- Longo’s nine total points this season are the most of his career in a single season.
- Sabatti moved to 3-2-1 between the pipes while coming away with two stops.
