Sheldon’s Career Night Not Enough as Ohio Falls on the Road to Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Despite a career night from junior guard Ajay Sheldon, the Ohio men’s basketball team (1-3) was unable to overcome a hot shooting Memphis (3-0) Friday night (Nov. 15), falling to the Tigers, 94-70 inside FedExForum.
Overall, Ohio shot 36.9 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from three and were 10-of-11 from the line, while Memphis shot 56.1 percent from the field, 72.2 percent from three and 77.3 percent from the line. Memphis outrebounded the Bobcats 35-32, however the Bobcats grabbed 10 offensive boards. Memphis dished out 19 assists compared to Ohio’s 15, with the Tigers recording 13 steals to Oho’s seven. Memphis also forced 16 Ohio turnovers and scored 29 points off them, while Ohio scored 21 points on 14 Memphis turnovers.
Individually, Ohio was led by Sheldon (Dublin, Ohio) who scored a career-high 20 points, while hitting a career-high six threes. Senior forward AJ Clayton (Roseville, Ohio) and graduate student forward Vic Searls (Hilliard, Ohio) both recorded six rebounds.
